I will be running a space game on Sunday 21st. Anyone interested in playing please send me an email so i can split the forces evenly.
The game itself is devised from a set of rules of my own creation and i will be giving players a quick breakdown on the day. The game was originally designed to accomodate races from the stargate universe but has been expanded to include other forces and other models. As a warning the game is played in a 2D style meaning no changes in height and players will require the use of D20's and a ruler.
Looking forward to Sunday.

Several days ago the alien influenced invaders got across the river at Tyreath ford. Reconnaissance suggests they are crossing in three locations several hundred yards apart, though how they built the apparent bridges either side of the original ones is still a mystery.
The failed strike on the attackers now means that at least several hundred, if not a couple of thousand `Z’s are across the river and spreading out through the countryside. A few drones have also been spotted.
The lead elements are moving South East towards the nearby army logistics base. There is little more than a maintenance section there, & they have been bringing some old artillery pieces up to operational standard.
The Government has decided that the base needs to be held as its repair facilities may prove important in the long term. They are therefore despatching your units to the location to reinforce it and clear the large Z group in the vicinity. Once held this will become a firebase for the South and East.
Enough artillery pieces have now been refurbished to issue one to every unit. Given the beating that the Z’s appear to be capable of handing out when cure rounds are not available this is very high priority. Other equipment may also be available.
The enemy elements are approaching from the NW, your troops will approach from the NE or SW (depending on who is available).
Players who could participate in this game are John, Peter C, Trevor, Peter D, Paul B and Simon P. Grateful if you would let me know if you are going to be there.

Q. Have we recovered enough of the drones to understand how they work?
A. You’ve recovered a dozen or more in varoius states of disrepair
Q. Are they sealed units or do they take in air from the outside?
A. They seem to be sealed units but air is taken in – you think for cooling
Q. Are they anti-grav or hover units?
A. Anti Grav - but the tech is definitely not known to anyone on the science team.
Q. What are their guidance/targeting systems?
A. Targeting systems are some form of external sensor. You are not even sure what spectrum they operate in.
Q. What sort of range do they have? Unknown but you have not seen any outside of about 10 KM from the city centre. Allowing for combat manouvering and a return journey that gives a minimum range of 40km. They are powered by very small (and efficient) fusion generators and carry an on-board supply of deuterium as fuel.
Q. Are they centrally controlled or autonomous?
A. You suspect they are a bit of both. Units seem to operate together & seem to priority target your artillery, fliers and vehicles, though you are not certain that is the exact priority order, this suggests a central command function.
Q. What are they made of?
A. The outer shell is made of a kevlar type material which gives similar protection to heavy infantry armour. Very light, very tough. Inside they have the power source, an ammunition supply (similar to a powergun), the pilot & some intrevenously delivered food to sustain him / her. There are a lot of the nanites around the `pilot' - in fact the pilot is immersed in a nanite `soup'.
Q. Any chance of creating a focused electromagnetic beam to jam them? Maybe the command vehicle could concentrate its radar along a few degrees to overload them?
A. Try it & see what happens. Likely to attract undue attention?
Q. I assume that the cure rounds aren't going to effect them in the same way as the Z's?
A. One or two have been caught in blast zones - no effect noted.

I had long been planning to do this as part of the role of the engineers is to allow players to convert (as well as repair) vehicles.
As I have said many times there are a lot of civilian vehicles around, many of which can be used by players in roles varying from simple transport through to conversion to makeshift APCs or Fire support vehicles (if properly converted). Your biggest problems are:
Lack of proper armour: Sheet metal helps but enough of it to count as armour above level 7 weighs the vehicle down so much that it becomes too slow.
Weapons. You have plenty of light support weapon (1 /1 ) calibre weapons. You are beginning to get some autocannons (mostly scrounged from wrecked drones). Anti Tank Missiles are also available in small numbers. These are man portable types but can easily be mounted on vehicles. Anything above that is simply not in production at the moment.
I will be adding to your lists a number of vehicles that your unit has scrounged. These come into three types
Light liason (essentially jeeps / civilian cars etc). (Grade 1)
Light Truck (3 ton type) (Grade 2). .
Heavy Truck (15 ton type) (Grade 3) .
All are wheeled. All unarmoured.
Grade 1 vehicles may be fitted with either 2 Mg or 2 ATM (or singles).
Grade 2 cehicles may be fitted with up to 3 MG (1 Twin, 1 single) or 2 autocannon (must be a twin mount), or 1 Autocannon & 1 ATM, or 2 MG plus1 Autocannon, or Twin ATM, single MG.
Grade 3 vehicles may be fitted with up to 4 MG (2 twin), 3 AutoCannon (triple Mount), Twin ATM + Twin MG or single Autocannon.
Light Vehicles can manage 4 armour points & if armoured must be armoured on all faces.
Medium vehicles can manage 8 armour points. No face may be more than 9.
Heavy Vehicles can manage 10 armour points. No face may be more than 9.
Engineers do 1D6 work points per day, + 1 point per level of experience (civilian / untrained = 0, Reg = 1, Vet = 2 , Elite = 3.
Adding weapons. 1 work point per `attack` point. An MG therefore has 2 attack points and takes 2 work points to fit one. An autocannon is 6 and an ATM 7.
Armour. Each grade above 6 = 2 work points multiplied by size of vehicle PER FACE.
So; armouring a light truck up to 7 all round = 2 x 4 (faces) x 2 = 16 work points.
Armouring a Heavy truck as 9/8/7 = 1 x 6 x 3 (Front) = 18, 2 x 4 x 3 = 24, 1 x 2 x 3 = 6, for a total of 48 work points (several weeks work).
Each time a vehicle is completed the engineer finishing he recieves experience points at a rate of 1 pt for each 10 points of work involved.
If you design vehicles you should be able to assess their cost as above. All of these vehicles are SLOW. Increase cost by 33% if they are to have improved engines fitted.
